ALL GOOD THINGS EP 01: KING CARTER + MAASSAI + SYL DUBENION + MAY RIO
CRITICAL PARTY STUDIES LIVE IN BROOKLYN! 10/23 3-7PM at 4TH ST & 5TH AVE
Well, when Bill “Big Dick” DeBlasio himself approached me and offered me five thousand dollars of some of the coldest, hardest cash to throw a party in Brooklyn, I knew I couldn’t refuse, or at least that refusing wouldn’t end well for me. Here’s the result: On October 23rd, Critical Party Studies will be presenting a live outdoor concert at 4th St and 5th Ave, with rappers King Carter and Maassai, and singer-songwriters May Rio & Syl Dubenion.
Free entry with RSVP (you don’t actually have to RSVP but please do because it helps me): https://withfriends.co/event/12763480/all_good_things_01_king_carter_and_maassai_and_syl_dubenion_and_may_rio_hosted_by_charlie_bardey

Syl DuBenion is a black American artist of many mediums. As a saxophonist, singer-songwriter-composer, and performer, he travels through different genres and modes to share his truth. He is a steadfast contributor to the New York City arts scene, hailing from Buffalo, NY.
MAY RIO
It is May Rio’s personality and deftness that ultimately shine and make her solo debut the unexpected journey that it is. It is intelligent like a riddle and catchy like an over-saturated cartoon. On Easy Bammer, May turns months of isolation into a curious & hyperreal reflection on memory of a time in New York City before stay-at-home-orders and lukewarm take-out—reflections on a time when staying at home & thinking felt like an unreasonable request of the cosmos. May Rio’s Easy Bammer gives its listener a chance to experience the warmth & quiet laughter of reflection; it does so in a time otherwise reserved for most as an endless cycle of waiting for new headlines.
